You see the wall, I see the gate!

Wall and Gate

So, be honest with me…

Are you one of those people who looks at the obstacles or limitations in front of you, rather than the opportunities?

Well it appears that I am!

I was out for a walk with God and we sat in my local South London park (Beckenham Place Park), which is a big beautiful green space that has recently been turned back from being a municipal golf course into a park, and work has started on returning it to its once former glory. In the centre of it there is a Georgian mansion house that is slowly being renovated but is still open daily to the public as an arts, cultural and community centre.

I have found that God often speaks to me in this place, and has been speaking to me a lot in my current season (coming out of a hard season with the Lovely Mr B’s cancer battle) as the former things are being restored (in all senses of the word). God has reminded me that He himself is in the ‘Restoration Business’, taking what was broken down, unappealing to the world, seen better days and generally that which has been written off and is bringing restoration and returning it to its former glory.

When I am at the park I can see the potential the property holds and an excitement for what could be and how it will be used in the future, and once again will be a destination setting for events like weddings.

Well this time when I was at the park I was on my own and had decided to go and do some photography, and generally hang out with Papa. I walked through into an area of the park near the mansion house that is a walled garden. I sat on a bench and as I soaked in the view, God started to speak to me.

This seems like a walled garden from the outside, but once you come inside through the gate there are no walls, just a vast expanse of space and green pastures to lie down in. Some of it is under construction, the old being rebuilt, promises being dusted off and new life coming to ruins that have become derelict and overgrown. I am making all things new. The plans I have are so much bigger than the plans you have and they are limitless and not curtailed by limited thinking.

Sarah, where you see the walls of limitation, I see the gate of opportunity!

I sat on that bench and I cried, slightly embarrassing but there weren’t too many people around, thank goodness.

I realised that the plans of God over our lives are irrevocable and they are moving at a pace, even when it seems like they aren’t in the natural. Where God has been behind the scenes moving things around, now the outworking of those plans are being made visible and it all seems to have suddenly happened, but this is just because what is now on display has taken much time behind the scenes. It is now beginning to speak of what is to come.

Just like us, we are a living demonstration of His goodness as He takes us from glory to glory.

2 Cor 3:18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

I could see that God rebuilds ruined cities and brings beauty out of ashes, because that is what He does. It is His very nature to make all things whole and complete.

He is in the restoration business.

I have been in this area of the park many times but never come in through the gate before and to be honest I hadn’t even noticed that it was a walled garden at one time. But, once you come in through the gate there are no walls in front of you and in fact the view is out over South London and is breath taking.

I just felt like God wanted me to understand that where I see walls of limitation where I currently am, that He always sees them as a gate of opportunity and a way to show His glory as He turns impossible situations around. He was urging me to once again stop looking through worldly eyes and start seeing from His perspective, a heavenly perspective and that when walls are viewed like this, as opportunities, life is even more exciting and He gets the glory as He opens up the space in front of us.

Psa 23:2-3 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Are you seeing a wall of limitation in your life at the moment?

Are you struggling to believe God can do anything to remove it?

God wants to remind you today that He is the gate that leads to freedom, opportunity, refreshment, provision, healing, wholeness and restoration of former things. He is the God that makes all things new and can lead us to wide open spaces, that we didn’t even know where there.

Stop seeing your workplace, college, family, finances (fill in the blanks) through limited thinking and allow your eyes to see the gates of opportunity that are opening up around you.

Fix your eyes on Him and start to see life with a heavenly perspective and allow God the opportunity to come and turn your impossible into His possible.

Let God turn your walls of limitation into gates of opportunity today!

Matt 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Luke 1:37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”

Gate
