During a prayer time this morning before our church service, God reminded me of the access we have to come to Him.
I was reminded of those videos we’ve all seen during lockdown where parents were trying to work online via zoom and then you would see the door burst open and their child enter the room during their ‘very important’ meeting.
I felt the Father say that He is never too busy to have us enter the room and we have unlimited access when it comes to Him. He will always drop everything to hang out with us and nothing else is more important to Him than being with us.
He invites us to come like children and children never worry about what their parent is doing and would enter the most important meeting you could possibly imagine without a care of what the situation is or how formal it is or who it’s with. They just want to see their daddy and that is their only concern in that moment as they burst into the room.
I was reminded again during the meeting, as the host asked us to keep our eyes resolutely fixed on Him, of the most famous desk in the world- the ‘resolute desk’ that is in the Oval Office where the President of the United States sits to work. An image I have seen at some point in my life flashed through my mind of JFK sat at this desk working and his son JKK Jr was sitting underneath it playing. It is such a striking image as the juxtaposition of one of the most powerful men on the planet sat in his suit working whilst his sons plays at his feet with zero interest in the title he carries or the gravitas of the meeting he’s in. All he is interested in is being close to his Father at whatever cost.
The Father reminded me that all He is interested in is being close to the lost at whatever cost!!
We have free access to the creator of heaven and earth and not only that we get to enter in and have an intimate, loving relationship where we get to sit with Him whenever we want to. He is always waiting for us to come.
I felt that for some their Father has always seemed distant and off in another room doing important stuff and therefore not present for them and seemingly uninterested in them. For others they knew their place and could never just approach their Father in that intimate way and just be close. They often felt like they had to book in an appointment. The last group were those who were fearful of disturbing their Father and grown up with a sense that they must be ‘seen and not heard’ and in fact had lived trying to be quiet and in the background for fear of making their dad angry about disturbing him. I would even go as far as saying growing up in a home where they have lived almost intimidated by their dad and that includes mum too who tried her best to keep the kids quiet and out of the way.
Today the Father would say that He is not like that and He invites you to come to Him, you are free to burst in at any point, He has all the time in the world for you. He would literally drop anything else He is doing just to be with you. You are so important to Him and He delights in being close to you.
So, what are you waiting for? The Father says come.
Matt 19:14 TPT
14 Jesus overheard them and said, “I want little children to come to me, so never interfere with them when they want to come, for heaven’s kingdom realm is composed of beloved ones[a] like these! Listen to this truth: No one will enter the kingdom realm of heaven unless he becomes like one of these!”
