Daily Declarations

daily-declarations

A new month is here already and a new monthly choice…daily declarations!

There is such power in our words, in fact, the bible says,

Prov 18:21 ‘The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit’.

With this in mind I am going to be focusing on the power of declarations this month. So, for those of you who are maybe not entirely sure what they are, they are a formal or explicit statement or announcement. But, in a spiritual sense our words take on a whole new significance because they are so powerful and can bring life.

Charisma magazine explains it so helpfully,

“Declarations are what we speak into the atmosphere, making known what we already have possession of. We can declare our righteousness, our salvation, our eternal victory and our friendship with God”.

I am a big fan of using words to encourage others but, so often I have to remind myself that my words can also encourage and build me up or make me feel rubbish about myself. How often I speak negatively about myself without fully understanding the effect it has on me and on God who states that;

PS 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

To speak negativity about myself is calling into question my creator and what he says about me and basically calling God a liar.

So, I hope you are beginning to see that our words are powerful, but add scripture to them and they become weapons to be used in the struggles we face. Throughout the bible it talks of the weapons of scripture that are available to us and we can use them freely to do battle!

Eph 6:17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

That old saying at school ‘sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me’ really is a load of old rubbish and couldn’t be further from the truth. The things people say to us and over us often go deep, without us even realising it. This can and does lead to us believing lies about ourselves that can often go to our very core and they can go unrecognised for years because we have believed them for so long they start to feel like the truth. They can become part of our identity and unless sorted out can lead to years of hurt and self-loathing. It’s like having a cracked record playing in your head that never seems to play a different song (hence the cover picture).

Do you have lies that you are believing about yourself today?

I have been involved in prayer ministry for some time and through the course I have been involved in for the last 3 years (TSM), have been on the receiving end of prayer for lies that I have believed about myself, too numerous to mention. But, as I have allowed God to bring them to the surface from the deep dark recesses of my mind where they have been filed away under ‘Identity‘, I have been able to step into freedom as he has broken the lies off me and I have allowed Him to speak truth over me and who He says I am.

If this feels all too familiar to you, it may be that you are believing lies about who you are (they will be the negative thoughts you are having about yourself, as God only has the very best thoughts about you).

Let me help you by giving you some declarations about the way God sees you. Feel free to use them as often as you need to and I recommend, if you can, to stand in front of a mirror and say them out loud to your reflection (tricky at first but it gets easier as the truth permeates into your soul).

Daily Declarations

John 1:12 I am God’s child.

Eph 1:4;11 I am chosen before the creation of the world.

Ps 17:8 I am the apple of my daddy’s eye.

PS 139:14 I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Eph 2:10 I am God’s workmanship.

Deut 7:6 I am His treasure.

Eph 1:9 & 3:11 I have purpose.

Eph 1:18 I am a saint.

Eph 2:6 I am seated with Christ.

Rom. 8:17 I am a joint-heir with Christ sharing His inheritance with Him.

1 Thes. 1:4 I am chosen and dearly loved by God.

1Cor 15:57 I am victorious.

Eph 3:7 God’s power works through me.

Phil 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

So, start declaring these over yourself today. God says it’s time to change the record!!
